We are a Trusted Non-medical Senior Care Companion company that provides care companionship to our senior clients so they can extend their independence.

 

Today, families are busier than ever and can't always be there for their loved ones. We understand that as we grow older, we want to hold onto our independence as long as possible.

 

We aim to help ensure this is a reality for our aging clients. So, families get the safety they need, and our clients get the close engagement and freedom they want to live happy and connected lives.

Appointments
& Tasks

 Our Care Companions accompany our clients to appointments while ensuring they receive the necessary non-medical care and support. We assist in completing their daily tasks, such as light housework and meal preparation.

Senior Care & Home Management Services

We craft a personalized care plan tailored to our clients' unique needs. We also meet our clients where they are, whether in hospital, rehab, retirement residences, long-term care or at home

We Support Special Needs

When family can't be there, as a Care Companion you will step in to advocate for your clients’ needs. In hospital stays, retirement residences, rehab centres, long-term care facilities, medical appointments, and everyday life, you will ensure your Senior Companion’s voice is heard and their well-being is prioritized. You will provide emotional support, facilitate communication with healthcare providers, and make sure their needs are met with dignity and respect.

 

As a Trusted Care Companion, you will be trained to best serve your Senior Companions, providing peace of mind and exceptional care. You can choose to care for those who live with the following:

Our Screening

Our thorough employee screening process ensures our Care Companions have had the proper reference and vulnerable sector checks, and are TB, flu, and COVID-compliant, a standard to become a Trusted Care Companion with Collen's Care Company.

Our Credentials

Our Care Companions have undergone comprehensive training programs that cover essential caregiving skills. Our interview process screens candidates for soft skills such as compassion, empathy and caring personalities. Hard skills will consist of knowledge and adeptness in providing personal care assistance, meal preparations, medication reminders, mobility support, light exercise and the awareness to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.

Our Training

We equip all our Care Companions with First-Aid and CPR knowledge. Our ongoing training programs will continuously update our employees' skills and knowledge so they can respond effectively to emergencies and provide immediate assistance if needed. Becoming a Trusted Care Companion

Do you have a passion for helping others? Are you a kind, patient, and reliable individual seeking a rewarding career? Colleen's Care Company is a local, bonded, and insured organization dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized care to our clients. We're seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Companions to join our growing team and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

About the Role:

As a Care Companion, you will provide non-medical support and companionship to our clients in their homes, allowing them to maintain their independence and quality of life. This role requires a genuine desire to connect with people, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing respectful and dignified care. You will also be required to participate in our comprehensive training programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Companionship: Engage clients in meaningful conversations, activities, and outings based on their interests and abilities. This may include playing games, reading, going for walks, or simply spending time together.

  • Personal Care Assistance: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting. (Training provided.)

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to any dietary restrictions or preferences.

  • Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment, such as dusting, vacuuming, laundry, and tidying.

  • Medication Reminders: Provide medication reminders to clients as directed. (Training provided.)

  • Errands and Appointments: Assist clients with running errands, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions, and accompany them to appointments as needed.

  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate records of client interactions and report any changes in their condition to the Care Consultant. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the Colleen's Care Company team.

  • Adherence to Care Plan: Follow the individualized care plan developed for each client, ensuring consistent and personalized care.

  • Respect and Dignity: Treat all clients with respect, compassion, and dignity, honoring their individual preferences and needs.

  • Training Participation: Actively participate in all required training programs provided by Colleen's Care Company.

 

Qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for helping others and a strong commitment to providing compassionate care.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license is a viable asset, though not required.

  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector check.  

  • Prior experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred but not required. We provide comprehensive training!

  • Willingness to participate in and complete our required training program.

We provide fun and engaging activities for seniors living in care homes. We organize regular group assemblies, such as crafting, pet therapy, magic and comedy shows, and live music!

 

Our friendly volunteers visit regularly to lift spirits and promote socialization as a way to give back and to offer a positive way to introduce much-needed care companionship as a valued part of seniors' lives.
